It began behind this door, Room 1400.
Today, the 1400’s is comprised of twelve board members, from Colorado to Carolina, Arizona to North Dakota, and they meet annually in December. Through donations and their own pockets, this anonymous group has provided over $125,000 in support to individuals across the country.
It is entirely fitting that the idea for what would become the 1400’s came about during the 2008 National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. Lifelong friends from across the country gathered to celebrate the Western lifestyle and as the night wore on, conversations turned to topics close to home. By the end of the night, what began as spirited talk around the bar, evolved into a unified agreement among these ten men to create a club to allow them to pool their resources to provide an annual scholarship.
The idea continued to have traction and the purpose expanded to not only include scholarships, but providing funds to those in need. After continued consideration in February 2009, the group incorporated in the state of North Dakota with an initial $1,600.00. Founding members contribute $100 annually, in addition to their time, to ensure the growth of the fund.
During the summer of 2009, just a few months after incorporating, the 1400’s gifted $500 to a young lady with cancer. Shortly after, a second recipient received the gift of a new archery bow and have been continuing to give back since.
